Great little Mexican restaurant! The enchiladas are delicious, and the carnitas are authentic plus it has great margaritas. We go here often, and I'm always happy with the service and meal. It's our go to Mexican spot!

Food was just OK nothing I would ever come back for! Felt bad for the 1 server working after watching 3 kids totally destroy a corner table with their food and the dad doing nothing about it! Holes in carpet all over and just not anything worth going back for! I don't recommend!

Chips were kinda old, environment is not the best. The spot looks like it shouldn't be restuarant. But I can't really complain about that too much because I knew that before I came. I ordered off if their lunch menu today chicken flautas. But since I didn't say flauta and a taco, she rang me up the dinner menu giving me one less taco and costing me more $$. For some reason she wouldn't change it. San Blas used to be better than this. When they first opened a few years back they were a lot cheaper. A lot cheaper. Maybe it was because they were new they were excited and gave great customer service. Those days are gone and so am I.

Very disappointing. Took 30 min and no drink order. Needless to say we are up and leaving the restaurant.

So so food. Service was good, and marguerites better than normal. Ok in a pinch, but tough to get Mexican food in the Burbs.

Had drinks and dinner tonight at San Blas for a 50th bday party. Nothing spectacular but the service was great, food was like every other mexican restaurant. Nothing to write home about. Cadillac margarita was good. I would go back but would not go out of my way.

Reasonably priced, tasty food, excellent service and a positive neighborhood environment. A good choice anytime as it meets expectations. Thumbs up!

For a local Mexican place, San Blas is usually a reasonable choice. The restaurant space definitely has a schizophrenic dimension, with the tables in the "restaurant area" separated from the more open bar area. Many families choose to sit in the bar area, probably because there are televisions broadcasting sports events. When you sit down, you are given a bowl of chips, a rather average salsa, and a plate with repollo (cole slaw) and a refried bean dip. In the past two years, I have not experienced the service issues mentioned by other reviewers, but I almost almost always sit in the bar, Put a Negra Modelo in front of me and I'm good for a while. I do feel when they first opened, service was often not very good. Things have improved. Portions are decent, prices what you'd expect in SW suburbia. Recommendations: Well , I like the mole enchiladas, chicken enchiladas (ask for the tomatillo or green sauce), and the wonderful chile relleno - Mexican style. Insider hint: the huarache on the "Comienzos" menu is a delicious meal for one -- and half price at Happy Hour. Second insider hint: ask for some Tapatio salsa on the side and spice up the house salsa and/or other items.

It's soso. Chips and dip are good, but I wasn't very good. It was Kind of bland and thy had very weak drinks. I probably won't go back.

Horrible service, staff does very poor job of greeting customers, waiting tables, and making you feel wanted. Good chips, salsa and bean dip but entrees are hit and miss. Wife had taco salad and shell tasted like a dirty towel, it was horrible!

I've been coming here from the very beginning, but wanted to give them a good six months to find their footing. My first couple of visits were during their growing pains stage and I didn't want to over penalize them while they were still figuring things out. I'm still only so-so on the place and haven't found any Mexican restaurants in West Linn that I'd recommend. So consider this A-OK rating my 'best of the bunch' in this area. The best thing I've ordered? The Molcajete. Chips and salsa, margaritas, enchiladas in mole sauce, fish tacos with tilapia. Nothing else is memorable. It is pretty run-of-the-mill Americanized Mexican fare. Personally, I find the seating areas to be odd. Split in two, there is a bar side and restaurant side. On every visit, I've been offered seating in the bar with the kids because this place is constantly packed on Friday and Saturday nights. I actually prefer sitting there to the restaurant side since the restaurant side feels like a long hallway. Service was fine on our most recent visit, but there were issues on all prior visits. Not that I have Mexican cravings that often, but when they strike, my thoughts turn to my favorite places in Wilsonville and Woodburn. Turns out San Blas is part of the Ixtapa Mexican restaurant chain with several locations in the southwest metro area. My son always call this place "San-blah" by mistake. He isn't far off.

I didn't like the Pico de gallo this time but I liked the beef burrito. Service was still good. Still expensive for just an OK Mexican food.

This my favotite local mexican restaurant. Not as good as in the city but only 5 min from my house. Food is good, esp the fajitas and chile rellenos (the egg style type), and service is fairly quick and friendly. They always have a coupon in local mailers which I appreciate, because I'm cheap and want to save 5 bucks. It's convenient and easy to have dinner and pick up stuff from Safeway next door and a bottle of whiskey from the liquor store and some money from B of A and maybe a quick mani/pedi, drop the cashmere off at the dry cleaner, and might as well throw in a Jungle tan to fight away the winter depression. Yes, it's all there in a 100 square yards, folks. Welcome to suburbia.

Stopped in randomly w a good friend of mine after finding it on my Android "Places" app. Very clean and we were pleasantly surprised at how much cuter and larger it was than it appeared on the outside. We were promptly seated at a booth and served crisp tortilla chips with a plate of bean dip and a generous garnish of chopped cabbage and cilantro along side their very fresh, flavorful salsa. I don't know about you, but I have never been served refried beans at NO charge in any Mexican restaurant.... ever. I don't mind paying for what I order, but it is such a pleasant surprise to be served yummy extras on "The House". We loved the cabbage garnish.. It tasted like a fresh, zesty coleslaw sans the mayo. Our lunch was very good/ $7.95 for 2 entrees served w rice and beans... your choice of pintos, refried or black beans. Generous portions... Great service... Our waiter was the bomb!!! Me and my picky friend cannot wait to drop in again to try their margaritas.

Will not be coming back. We came around 3:30 and there were only 2-3 other tables with people. It took awhile for our waitress to get to our table. We all ordered plain ole enchiladas. Not sure why it took over 30 minutes to get our food. For what we paid, we got very little food. I've also never seen cheese melt like that... Looks (and tastes) a bit like melted plastic. The rice and beans were mediocre at best. The chips and salsa weren't worth writing home about. Overall: blah. In a nutshell: SLOW service. Small portions, high prices. Poor quality food. Never going back.

Are you kidding with these bad reviews? This is an absolutely great place! We are regular customers and love their food and drinks. Voted best place to chill and have a wonderful margarita and super nachos on a Friday nite after a tough day at the office! Happy hour specials and if you stick around, live music too! Patricia the waitress and all the servers, cooks, and bartender are great! We've gotten to know them and they take good care of their customers! Good prices. Best thing going in the burbs! Love these guys!!!

Went here last night with friends that recommended we try it. I thought the chips and salsa was delicious. Loved them. And you don't have to pay for extra chips and salsa like some, "'cough Agave at Bridgeport cough" places. The waiter we had was super cool and spoke a little mexicali to mess us up. It was fun. My meal was good, not great but everything else was really good. I had the flautas. I recommend having them with the beef instead of the chicken and the flour tortillas instead of the corn. I had one of each. The portions are small but thank goodness right? I don't want more calories than I need. I will be back.

We knew this was going to be bad as soon as we walked through the door as we were not even acknowledged. We sat ourselves in the bar area. The chips & salsa were ok. It took forever to get a drink order and when I asked for more chips I received a very obvious eye roll from our waiter. Sorry to put you out. Portions were small and were along the lines of a frozen meal as far as quality goes. The best part of the meal was the beer. We will not be going back.

The WORST service ever!!! The food is ok if you ever get it. Took 25 minutes to get a drink after it was ordered and there were 2 people in the restaurant.

We were in the mood for mexican and wanted to try something new. We pass by this place last week and took a mental note. Very good customer service. Like someone mentioned, 3 doors to get in. Doesn't matter which you choose, someone will ask how to help. We sat in the booth and right away we had chips and salsa. Really good salsas. The Pico was great!! Nice big margaritas. Cold beer and hot food. The seasoning on the Fajitas is amazing. Tortilla soup was very nice as well. Most of the prices were just around $10 some a little less a few a little .more Brought our 3 year old and they were great with her. Our server Lorena was absolutely wonderful. We will be back!

Went there last night with family (me, my wife, 4 young boys). Will go there again. Food was good. I'd give it 4 stars except it felt a tiny bit over priced for mexican food. I'll have to try a few more dishes to see if it lives up to the pricing. Kids were happy with their quesadillas and enchiladas. Kim and I were happy with our camerones dishes. Kim ordered the camerones in a white sauce. I had mine wrapped in bacon (how could I resist?). Both dishes were good although Kim's was a bit heavy on the onions. The salad that came with my dish was a waste of time and included what looked like pre-grated cheese (get rid of that, chef). Came with refried beans which were good but I prefer black beans and don't recall that being an option. Flour tortillas that came with my meal did not seem fully cooked. Kids: "Better than Chevy's!" The chips were ok but didn't seem nearly as fresh as the salsa, which must be made in-house. Salsa was great. Mini sopapillas at the end were a nice touch.

I was very excited to see a new restaurant open in West Linn. This particular location has been troublesome and has experienced some turnover over the last several years. The restaurant is clean, updated, and inviting. The only odd thing? Three front doors all in different locations. I am still not sure which door is really the front door. None of them go to a hostess station, you just kinda wander around until someone asks if you want to be seated. Of course, the meal started out with chips and salsa. The salsa was home made and very good. We did note they do store new chips in a 32 gallon garbage can off to the side. I hope the can is dedicated to just chips. We ordered a tostada salad and San Blas burrito. Both were quite good. The salad was a bit under seasoned and the chicken was dry. The San Blas burrito is their signature dish and is pretty good. During our visit, the restaurant was not very busy. But it did take a while to be served and waited on. I attribute this to being new and training. Will most definitely go back and give them another try in the near future.

We have been eying this restaurant since it opened but having been disappointed with Mexican food in the Portland area so many times, just had not had the guts to try it. This evening, looking across the fog covered parking lot from the Safeway, it seemed a good time to try. We were pleasantly surprised! Contrary to some of the other reviews in Yelp, we found the service friendly, helpful and reasonably speedy. The food was a style of Mexican food we grew up with in So. California many many years ago and it was comfortable and good! My wife's dietary restrictions were graciously accommodated. We enjoyed and we will go back.

In a nutshell- the food was decent though Americanized and service sucked. I had the chicken mole enchiladas, they were alright. Standard Portland mole that tasted like it had chocolate syrup in it. Their beans were good for refried, rice was nothing special. I wish they had a side of cabbage/carrot salad or even just lettuce like most Mexican restaurants but the plate was very bare and plain. I'm one of the few who actually eat that part. Our service on the other hand was horrible and rude. I ended up leaving less than 10% tip because it was THAT bad (and it takes a lot for me to leave a bad tip). They weren't busy and our waitress, when she was rarely around, gave attitude like we were a huge annoyance. They do bring out beans/cheese with the chips and salsa which is different and appreciated.

I will not be returning to this establishment. My husband and I were hoping this place would be great since we live up the road and it would be convenient, but we left feeling somewhat sick. First, we showed up at an odd hour (around 3:30pm) and were glared at by one of the male employees when we walked in. We weren't greeted, but instead they simply looked toward the bar area assuming we knew to venture in there... The queso appetizer plate was extremely greasy and froze up on us almost immediately (making it almost impossible to eat); the "steak" plate my husband ate was not acceptable and the chicken in the burrito I ordered smelled and tasted foul. I had a stomach ache the remainder of the afternoon and so did my husband. The only decent thing on our table, in our opinion, was the salsa. Otherwise, the service was subpar. The waitress was very cordial but was in no way overwhelmed, considering there was only our table and one other. She was more focused on cleaning her previous tables than refilling our drinks and chips. These guys had an opportunity to wow me and did nothing of the sort... it's unfortunate because I love (real) mexican fare.

More like San Blah - have locals really not had any more authentic Mexican food than this typical cheese saturated, tasteless stuff they try to pass off as exotic cuisine. My wife and I needed to stop for a quick meal, so we thought we'd give it a try. Well from the wayward greeting to the bad food, I'd have to say the best parts of this restaurant were the chips (which we didn't get for 10 minutes after we were seated) and the mints as we left. My wife got a beef tostada that was tasteless. It was basically a hard tortilla from a package, some beef, cheap iceburg lettuce and bland cheddar cheese - yummy! I had a enchilada, chile relleno combination that was saturated with cheese - surefire way to hide any flavor. Between the cheese and the salty enchilada sauce, we would have been better off to make a run for the border. Never again, San Blah, never again.

Terrible service!!! The waiter was rude when we were ordering and I had ordered a blackberry margarita... When i received the margarita the waiter slams it on the table while making no eye contact and continues to walk off... when getting the food... she gave us the wrong food and continued as if it was our fault... the food was decent but, holy S*** worst service I've received...

One time visit and NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN ! this was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant . Their costumer service was the worst. When we arrived the waitress was drying off our table gave us a table with wet seats, after seating us and taking our order for drinks she took approximately 10 min to come back with our drinks and took 20 min to come back and ask if we were ready to order . My food took to long eventough they only had 3 other tables with costumer and after the wait they got my order mixed up. I saw tables that were empty but full of dirty dishes untill customers came they clean only the table they were going to use. This was a horrible experience and I was verry unsatisfied with the food and service.

I almost feel like calling Fox News to report a new candidate for their "Dirty Dining" segment. Since hygiene is first before service, I will only report on that. If I had to report on service, or lack there of... that would be a whole yelp review plus more. My fiancé and I sat directly in front of the cook's line. First, ranch dressing for the salads sat in a plastic holder under the cooking lamps the entire 2 hrs we were there. It was never placed in a refrigerator or removed from the heat source. Think twice before ordering a salad. Secondly, rather than using a clean counter, we watched an employee use an open garbage as a table to put away a tray of clean flatware. To make matters worse we witnessed another waitress taking used salsa dishes from bussed tables and washing them in the hand sink for reuse. She never ran them through a hot sanitary dishwasher! The next time you eat there, you too can be sharing the same salsa/saliva dish of previous patrons. I have lived in WL for over 20 years and have supported local businesses, but I do not support cutting corners when it comes to putting people's health at risk.

Food was excellent, restaurant had a fun atmosphere with TV's and outdoor seating in the summer. Great place to take kids and they have an excellent lunch special that changes, i'll be coming back for sure.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
